Seeds Of Action Celebration June 29

The Seeds of Action Program was created to follow the biblical parable -
entrusted with your talents you multiply them.
(See the very first post below.)
To simplify, the idea was to take your ten dollars that the church gave to you that Sunday,
multiply it with your talent, and return the (multiplied) ten dollars to Seattle Unity.

Mark your Contribution - In order to keep track of our prosperity successes, please earmark your contribution as “Seeds of Action” on the check or envelope you use.

Market Place - There are now tables in the Fellowship Hall every Sunday for people to display things they are producing to sell for this program.

FESTIVAL - On Sunday, June 29th we will CELEBRATE! This is the day for our Seeds of Action Festival!
We encourage EVERYONE to come to the festival, which is the time when everyone can bring in their goods and have them in the Fellowship Hall for everyone to see and buy, celebrate and enjoy our wonderful array of talents and talented congregants

Blessings coming in!

“The Seeds of Action coins came as a wonderful synchronistic blessing just after I had begun a prosperity project in order to help my family. To show my gratitude or the part the coins have played, I’m giving twice my normal contribution as the project continues.

Thank you!” Brenda

The Market Place is Growing!

Last week we had art, silk scarves, and tomatoe plants!  What do you think you will find this week? I know that a magnificent art deco lamp is to be the center of attention. You may purchase your ticket for the chance to own this one of a kind piece of art for your home.

This community market is for you. Bring your project and sell your items! Bring your business cards and your promo materials. Generate the joy and the energy as we exchange our gifts in this market place of generosity.

Confused about Seeds of Action?

For those who are a bit confused about the “Seeds of Action” program (“the $10 money giveaway”)

This program was created to follow the biblical parable, where you take your talents and multiply them.(See the very first post below).

To simplify, the general idea was to take your ten dollars, multiply it with your talent, and return the (multiplied) ten dollars to Seattle Unity. In order to keep track of our prosperity successes, please earmark your contribution as “Seeds of Action” on the check or envelope you use.

Use this blog to exchange ideas and success stories.

How do I return my Seeds of Action financial success?

People have been asking how to “return the seed money and its increase”? Does the church want to know the specific amounts?  For the Generosity experiment and adventure - Yes, please identify the Seed Money you are giving back to Seattle Unity

Please identify the money you are returning to the church as “Seeds of Action Money”. Unity will then account for it in the cash receipts journal as “capital fund income”.  If a bag of gold coins is put in the love offering, we will assume it is for seeds even if the person doesn’t identify it as seeds money. It would be grand if you could include a version of your story as well. Your story will inspire each of us!

Thank you.

A Note in the Basket

Annoymously written on the flap of an envelope and placed in the offering:

The $10 you gave me has already increased x 3!  Thank you!

Market Place Coming - Want to help?

Spiritual Practice - Generosity

Welcome to the Seattle Unity Community - Seeds of Action with Compassion Blog.

seeds of action 10 dollar coinsSunday, May 4
Rev. Richard Levy talked about the Spiritual Practice of Generosity
This talk is posted at www.seattleunity.org/talksandmessages

The Seeds Of Action is based on the Biblical parable of the talents. Matthew 25:14-30; Luke 19:12-28  In the story the master gives talents to 3 of his servants, for safe keeping, before he takes off to Hawaii.  When the master returns and right after he shows his servants his tan and tells them a couple of whale stories 2 of his servants return twice as many talents to the master as he gave them.  The third servant returns the original amount.

The exciting part: The Unity Community of Seattle gave each of the congregants who chose to participate, 10 James Monroe dollar coins.  The intent of this “Seed Money” is to create a fun community building activity to experience the joy of generosity while raising a little money for the church. (Listen to Rev. Richard’s talk for the Spirit behind the Seeds.) The church was alive with chatter, possibilities and creative energy after the services.

Howard Langeveld, Jack and Jane Fecker hosted a brainstorming session Sunday, May 4, to spark and encourage creative ideas for how individuals might use their seed money to raise funds. A list of over 30 great ideas came out of this session and is provided below for your use and inspiration.

This blog will provide a space to share your stories, find collaborators and converse about these ideas. Do you want to find help? Perhaps offer to volunteer with someone’s project or maybe just get inspired by what you see others are doing. Share your Seeds of Action prosperity stories and see how the Spirit and flow happen.

Anything related can also be discussed or brought up.  The comments will be monitored for spam etc. If you would like to volunteer for that role please let us know.  We hope all of you will contribute your stories.

The end date for this “official” project is June 29.  A celebration is planned to share the results. This blog may continue beyond that time if the input and usage continues. seeds of action 10 dollar coins
